Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Bapuji Nagar in Odisha capital after a youth was brutally assaulted by a group of youths near the flyover in broad daylight on Tuesday.
According to sources, P Narasingha, a resident of a slum near Bapuji Nagar, was on his way home when around five youths suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the area.
On being informed, Capital Police rushed to the spot and admitted Narasingha to the Capital Hospital. Police later registered a case.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Narasingha had attacked Surendra Das and his son Siba of the same slum earlier in the day over previous enmity. The duo is now undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital. Avenging the attack, the rival group members launched a murderous assault on him.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
