Youth Charred To Death, Mother Critical In Fire Mishap In Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: A youth was charred to death while her mother suffered critical burn injuries after fire broke out in their house at Agarpada village under Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur district late on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Pradipta Ghosh.

The woman was rescued by neighbours and admitted to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.

The duo was sleeping in the house when the incident took place.

Though the reason behind the mishap is yet to be known, locals suspect that the deadly fire started after petrol was allegedly poured into the house, police sources informed.

A similar fire mishap was also reported from the house six months ago.
