Bhubaneswar: A youth was chased and hacked with swords by 4 persons at a busy junction in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

According to sources, the victim, identified as Manoj Gouda was found running on road at Master Canteen square in the city in the afternoon. He was chased by four persons brandishing swords. As Manoj stumbled and fell down, the assailants attacked him with the swords.

On hearing the shouting, the locals rushed to the help of Manoj. But they failed to catch hold of the attackers who fled from the scene before they arrived.

On being informed, a team from Master Canteen outpost rushed to the spot and sent profusely bleeding Manoj in an ambulance to Capital Hospital in the city. As Manoj’s condition deteriorated due to multiple injuries on different parts of his body, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.

The sources said Manoj is a habitual thief who along with the four miscreants targeted the train passengers at Master Canteen and snatch their mobile phones and hand bags. They are mostly found loitering in the area to commit the crime. But the police have not confirmed about their activities.
