Youth Climbs Atop Electric Tower At Berhampur Railway Station, Rescued

Berhampur: Railway traffic was disrupted for more than two hours on Wednesday after a youth climbed up an electric tower and threatened to commit suicide.

A few passengers spotted the youth at platform no-3 and alerted the railway personnel about the same. Following this, the railway authorities disconnected the power supply to prevent the person from being electrocuted.

However, the youth hailing from Assam threatened the passengers and railway officials to commit suicide by jumping off the tower.

Later,  a team of fire services officials managed to rescue him safely after a two-hour long effort.

It is suspected that the youth is a mentally unstable person and he has been sent for medical examination to verify the same.
