Berhampur: A youth was critically injured after being shot at and simultaneously attacked with sharp weapons by five unidentified people at Sikula village under Purusottampur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
The injured has been identified as Niranjan Moharana and the attack is being attributed to suspected political rivalry.
Sources said, Niranjan was sitting outside his house when five youths arrived in motorcycles. While one of them fired on him, the others attacked with swords before fleeing the spot. He sustained critical bullet injuries in the belly and was immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. His condition is stated to be critical.
On being informed, Purusottampur police reached the spot and started an investigation. A
family members of Niranjan has filed a complaint at the local police station, alleging that he was attacked over political rivalry.
