Nayagarh: A youth was critically injured as a firecracker went off in his hand during a ‘Dola Melana’ procession at a village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place at Nahakapada village under the jurisdiction of Daspalla police station in the district during celebrations of Dola festival.
The injured youth, identified as Ajay Sethi, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Nayagarh.
Ajay was handling firecrackers during the Holi Melana procession in the village. However, one of the crackers accidentally went off in his hand, causing him critical injuries.
He was immediately rushed to the local community health centre (CHC) and then shifted to the DHH in Nayagarh. His condition was stated to be critical.
