Balasore: Unidentified miscreants allegedly stabbed a youth near Balu Bazaar in Balasore district on Wednesday night.
The victim has been identified as Shaikh Sarfaraj.
He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition worsened as the attack had inflicted injuries to his lung.
According to available information, miscreants attacked Sarfaraj with a knife during an Akhada practice for the upcoming Muharram at Dargah Maidan.
Though the motive behind the attack is yet to be known, past enmity is being suspected to be the reason behind it.
Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
