Balasore: A youth was detained on charges of circulating fake notes in Soro of Balasore district on Tuesday.
Bishnu Nayak, a resident of Biranchipur village in the district, was caught by the police while attempting to deposit 22 fake notes in Rs 2,000 denomination at Khirikana Cooperative Society.
According to available information, Nayak had gone to repay his loan amounting Rs 1.50 lakh in the Cooperative Society. However, the employees noted that the currency notes were fake and immediately alerted the police.
Police took the person into custody for questioning to ascertain the source of the fake notes.
