Bhubaneswar: A youth died at a de-addiction centre in the Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar under mysterious circumstances with his family alleging murder.
The deceased, identified as Suryakant Mahapatra (28), was a resident of Singhanathpur under Banki police limits in Cuttack district.
As per preliminary information, he was admitted to the rehabilitation centre on August 29. On Tuesday night, the centre authorities informed Suryakant’s family that he had died by suicide.
After getting information, family members rushed to the rehabilitation centre. However, they rejected the suicide claim made by the centre and alleged that Suryakant had been murdered.
The family members demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and strict action against those responsible.
The rehabilitation centre is yet to comment on the issue.
