Cuttack: A youth died after being hit by a truck on National Highway-16 near Madhupatna police station here on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Samarjeet Barik.
According to eyewitnesses, Samarjeet was riding a scooter when a speeding truck hit him from behind. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital by some locals. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Soon after the accident, an irate mob gathered at the spot and staged a blockade demanding compensation for the family of the deceased and action against the truck driver, who fled the spot.
