Youth Dies In Accidental Firing During Hunting Expedition In Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In a freak incident, a youth allegedly shot himself dead accidentally while on a hunting expedition in a forest in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Kumar Chatria of Bandhabahal village in the district.

Sources said the incident took place in Chandanimal and Bandhabahal forest under the jurisdiction of Katarbaga police station where seven youths including Kumar had gone to hunt boar.

On hearing some noise inside the forest, the youths got scared tried to flee the spot when Kumar’s gun accidentally fired. Unfortunately, the bullet hit him and he died on the spot.

After getting the information, a police team reached the spot and recovered the body which was sent for post-mortem.

Police have detained the other six youths for questioning and seized two guns from them. Further investigation matter in progress.
