Youth Drowns While Floating Boat In Canal In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A youth reportedly drowned while floating toy boats in a canal on the occasion of Kartik Purnima in Odisha’s Angul district on Monday.

According to sources, the youth, identified as Asish Sahu of Chasa Gurujang village under Pallahara block of the district along with other villagers had gone to float the boat in Samal Right canal in the morning.

When Asish to middle of the canal to release his boat, he slipped and was pulled away by strong current in the water. As the canal was filled to the capacity and water flow was strong, others did not dare go to his rescue.

As the villagers called Fire Brigade and were waiting for their arrival, the body of Asish surfaced in the canal at a distance from the mishap spot.

Later, Fire personnel brought the body from water. A police team, which had arrived after being informed, sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case and started investigation.
