A man from Gujarat was allegedly duped of Rs 1.2 lakh by a man from Koraput.
According to reports, the victim, Jitendra Kumar Dheeraj Bhaimali, received a friend request from an unknown person on Facebook. The man identified himself as an occultist or tantrik and claimed to resolve Jitendra’s family and agricultural issues. He demanded Rs 1.2 lakh for the same.
An unsuspecting Jitendra transferred the amount to the bank account of the occultist.
Soon, the occultist’s number was switched off. Jitendra enquired at the bank and found out that it belongs to a resident of Jeypore in Koraput district. He then lodged a complaint at the police station who recovered the money from a relative of the fraud tantrik.
The man, however, fled learning about involvement of police in the case.
