Balangir: Unable to bear the death of four family members in a gas cylinder explosion, a youth allegedly died by suicide in Belapada area of Odisha’s Balangir district on Saturday.
According to preliminary reports, the 19-year-old youth allegedly ended his life by hanging himself.
It may be noted here that the death toll in last week’s gas cylinder explosion rose to four on Friday after one more victim succumbed to his burns.
Shattered after the loss of family members one after another, the youth was stated to have taken the extreme step.
The mishap had taken place when family members were watching television inside the house and the gas cylinder in the kitchen caught fire and exploded.
The injured were rescued by local residents and rushed to Kantabanji Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to a private hospital in Rourkela.
One of them died on February 12 while two others succumbed to their injuries on February 15. Another person died on Friday. The rest two are undergoing treatment and their condition is stated to be critical.
