Balasore: A 26-year-old youth of Sahajipatna under Remuna police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district allegedly committed suicide on Saturday after losing money in an online gaming app.
The youth was identified as Gautam Nayak whose body was found hanging in his house today morning. Police retrieved the body and sent it for autopsy after registering a case of unnatural death.
According to sources, Nayak had placed a bet of Rs 5 lakh to get back the money he had lost in the gaming app.
Family members of Nayak said he was addicted to the online app since Covid lockdown period and had attempted to end his life multiple times in the past.
The youth was under mental stress over the last few days which could have triggered the suicidal tendency leading to the tragedy, the sources added.
