Youth Found Dead At Kanas Railway Station, Locals Halt Train

Puri: Tension gripped Kanas Road railway station near Delang in Puri on Sunday morning after mutilated body of a youth, identified as Dhiren Kumar Routray, was found on the tracks.

Locals detained the Puri-Cuttack passenger train, alleging inaction by station master who they claim paid no attention to it as scavengers fed on the body nor informed the Government Railway Police (GRP). They further alleged that the youth was murdered and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

According to sources, the 27-year-old had left home on Saturday evening and did not return till late night.

On being informed, the GRP officials reached the spot and pacified the agitators, following which train movement resumed. They also seized the body and sent it for postmortem. Police suspect it to be an accident case. Further investigation is on.
