Cuttack: A youth went missing while bathing in a dam near a temple in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday.
As per reports, six friends from Bidanasi in Cuttack city had gone on a picnic to Damadamani shrine in Mangarajpur panchayat under Choudwar police station in the district on the day. After making arrangements for food, four of them went to take bath in the dam near the shrine.
While bathing in the dam, which was filled to the capacity due to rains, their legs slipped and they went into deep water. However, three of them managed to return to the banks of the dam while one went missing. The missing youth has been identified as Ansuman Nayak.
“While we were bathing in the dam, all of us slipped into deeper water and started drowning. Three of us managed to save ourselves from drowning. In the struggle to save ourselves, we also tried to pull Ansuman out, but failed,” said Asish Mohapatra, a youth who survived.
On being informed, Fire personnel rushed to the dam and started search operation to trace Ansuman. But they could not find him till evening.
