Bhadrak: A youth was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother with an iron rod in the district over family dispute on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Amarendra Tripathy of Sadeipada village under Basudevpur panchayat.

According to sources, Amarendra, who had psychological problems, used to have fights with his elder brother Satyabrata Tripathy. When the villagers came to their house after hearing the shouting of the two brothers on the day, they found them hitting each other.

Satyabrata was beating his brother with an iron rod, they added. Later, Amarendra was found dead near his house.

On being informed, police went to the village and detained Satyabrata for questioning. Further investigation is on.

Though the exact cause of the alleged murder is yet to be established, family dispute is suspected to be the cause of the two brothers’ fight.
