Berhampur: Police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a woman and duping her of gold ornaments and cash.
The accused has been identified as M Rajesh Kumar Reddy (22) of Chikalakhandi near Chhatrapur. He was working as a security guard in a private security agency.
According police sources, he developed a relationship with the woman, a mother of a four-year-old, by posing as a policeman and during those 2 years, took 75 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 2 lakh cash, promising to return them after his brother’s wedding. When she demanded the money and gold back, he threatened her and her husband.
Following which, she filed a complaint with police on March 25, leading to the arrest.
