Youth Held For ‘Raping’ Minor Girl In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Police arrested a youth on Thursday night for allegedly raping a 7-year-old minor girl at Nadidihi Nuagan village under Rugudi police limits in Guali panchayat of Joda block in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Wednesday.

The arrested has been identified as Ganesh Munda (19).

According to sources, the minor girl was playing near her house in the evening when the accused took her to the river bank on the outskirts of the village and raped her. Later, he left her in an unconsciousness state.

As she did not return, the family members frantically searched for her. The minor girl regained consciousness at around 9 pm and managed to return home and informed the matter to her parents, who informed the ward member.

The ward member informed the police and called the 108 Ambulance. She was referred to the district headquarters hospital after first-aid at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Barbil. As her condition deteriorated on Thursday, she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in the night.

Police, meanwhile, arrested Ganesh which he was trying to flee the village.
