Balasore: A youth sustained bullet injury after unidentified miscreants opened fire at him at Balia under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
As per preliminary information, four bike-borne miscreants intercepted the youth, identified as Manoranjan Bindhani, when he was returning from a gym.
The miscreants pulled out a gun and opened fire at Manoranjan, causing him minor injury as the bullet reportedly narrowly missed his face.
In a desperate attempt to save his life, the youth ran from the spot and entered the house of Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das.
The youth was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Balasore for treatment. His condition was stated to be stable.
The MLA, who was hearing grievances of people, informed the police about the incident. “I called police officials and informed them. I have also spoken to the SP and sought immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the firing,” he said.
While the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, the incident was suspected to have taken place due to some old dispute.
After being informed about the incident, a team of police personnel visited the site and launched an investigation.
