Cuttack: Two youths sustained serious injuries in an alleged acid attack by an elderly person in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Saturday evening.
As per the complaint filed at Lalbagh police station in the city, one of the youths, identified as 19-year-old Satyabhan Sahu of Balu Bazaar, had got a call on his mobile phone in the morning. As he was taking food, he asked his 12-year-old sister to receive the call. The caller not only scolded Satybhan over phone but also spoke in foul language with the girl.
Satyabhan identified the caller as a 50-year-old contractor of Chandini Chowk in the city. As Satyabhan is a daily wager, he had earlier approached the contractor for work.
Later, he along with his friend went to the man’s house and confronted him for his misbehaviour with his minor sister. But the contractor got infuriated and started to abuse Satyabhan and his friend. When the two friends retaliated, the contractor threw a chemical mixed with acid at them.
As Satyabhan and his friend sustained burn injuries, the locals rushed them to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
After Satyabhan lodged a complaint in this regard, Lalbagh police has registered a case and started investigation.
