Cuttack: A woman who was allegedly abducted and raped for five days in the Choudwar area here was rescued and the accused person detained by the police for interrogation.
The 29-year-old unmarried woman of Kantol area under Athagarh NAC was kidnapped by Sanjay Barik of the village by the same name late on July 18 night. She had gone outside to relieve herself. According to reports, she fell unconscious and found herself in a confined room in the Agrahat area the next morning.
The youth allegedly raped her for five days in the closed room and asked her to marry him. Reports said that he threatened to kill her if she refused his proposal.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother lodged a missing complaint at the Athagarh Police Station. The police raided a house in the Agrahat area and rescued the woman. The accused has been detained, police said.
