Youth Killed By Friend Over Petty Spat In Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A youth was allegedly killed by his close friend in Sambalpur district of Odisha over a petty quarrel on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Satya Narayan Panigrahi and the crime was committed in Bankitikra village in Rasanpur under Samablpur Sadar police limits, sources said.

As per reports, Satya and two of his friends were involved in a verbal duel last night which aggravated into a fist fight. Minutes into the fight, one J Sridhar allegedly hit Satya with a wooden plank on his head.

Due to the impact of the blow, Satya dead on the spot, said sources. Though rushed to the hospital, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Following the incident, Police swung into action to nab the accused. Police tracked the mobile phone of Sridhar and traced him today.

Sridhar has been arrested and forwarded to the court. Meanwhile, body of the deceased was sent for autopsy to VIMSAR Burla, the police said.
