Bargarh: A youth died after sustaining bullet injuries during a firing near BJP office in Bhatli block of Bargarh district on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Bulu Satnami (18).
As per the information, Bulu had gone to the party office with his friends for some work when an unidentified man opened fire a round of bullet. The bullet hit Bulu’s head. The miscreant fled the spot immediately after committing the crime.
Bulu was rescued by the locals and rushed to the district headquarters hospital. Later, he was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, three persons were detained by police for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Though the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, police and locals suspect it to be the fallout of an old enmity.
Raids are being conducted by police at different places in the district to nab the miscreant.
