Bhubaneswar: Irate locals and family members of a youth, who died after being critically injured in an attack by a group of miscreants five days ago, staged a road blockade near Unit-8 DAV School in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Commuters faced inconvenience as locals blocked Unit-8 DAV School Chhak-CRP Square road demanding immediate arrest of all accused persons involved in the brutal murder.
A group of around five miscreants had reportedly launched a murderous attack on Jitendra Das alias Bablu in front of his house in Nayapalli area on December 27. The victim, who was undergoing treatment at private hospital, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Following his death
today, Bablu’s family members with the support of the local residents blocked the Unit-8 DAV-CRP Square road by burning tyres and demanding justice and action against the accused persons.
The protesters also alleged that Bablu’s body was being taken elsewhere instead of being handed over to the family members. They demanded Bablu’s body after post-mortem.
A large number of vehicles were left stranded on the road following the road blockade on the busy route of the city.
On being informed, a team from Nayapali Police station reached the spot and held a discussion with the protesters. Later, the zonal DCP also rushed to the site and convinced the protesters to withdraw the road-blockade.
Meanwhile, police have found a new twist to the murder case and informed that Bablu was killed over love triangle and this angle of the murder case is also being interrogated.
Police said two persons, including a minor boy, have been arrested for their role in Bablu’s murder. Teams have been formed to apprehend the remaining five accused, who have already been identified.
