Patkura police have detained Bikram’s father for interrogation.
The accused will be nabbed soon, a police officer said.
Though the real reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police suspect it to be the fallout of a land dispute.
Kendrapara: A youth llegedly killed three members of his family on Saturday night.
The incident took place at Madhusudanpur village under Patkura police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
The accused has been identified as Bikram Das, a tractor driver.
According to sources, he allegedly thrashed his wife after an argument in an inebriated state and attacked his grandparents and parents when they tried to intervene.
The deceased were identified as Bikram’s grandfather Dhruba Das (80), grandmother Saraswati Das (70) and his aunt Pratima Das.
Bikram has been absconding after the incident.
His mother, Ketaki Das, who sustained injuries in the attack, is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
“Bikram was drunk when he came home and started beating his wife. When we tried to intervene, he started hitting us. I don’t know why all of a sudden he attacked us,” Bikram’s father said.
