Youth Live-Streams His Suicide In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: The live streaming of suicide by a youth in the district on Saturday has come as a shock to social media users.

The video showed the youth, identified as Pitambar Lenka of Mituani village under Khaira police limits, hanging himself with a rope. The 30-year-old youth had kept his mobile phone on a chair in the room to live-stream his suicide on social networking site Facebook.

While over 2,000 viewers watched the video, around 50 shared it.

According to Pitambar’s family sources, his wife had committed suicide about two years ago. Since then, Pitambar was in mental stress. He is survived by an 11-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.

On being informed, police went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Though no complaint has been filed with the police, an unnatural death case has been registered.
