Cuttack: A youth, who had gone missing from Odisha’s Cuttack district 17 months back, has been traced in Vijaywada of Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, Somnath Raula was staying with his elder brother Kalia Raula in Lenkasahi of Ratgada under Barang police station in the district. Somnath was helping his brother in farm works.
After 29-year-old Somnath went missing from the house 17 months back, Kalia searched for him in all possible places. As he failed to trace his brother, Kalia filed a missing person case in Mancheswar police station.
The police registered a case and started investigation. They also detained two persons suspecting their involvement in the case and questioned them. But the police failed to make any headway in tracing Somnath.
A few days back, a villager informed Kalia about a video in YouTube showing a youth trapped in a drum filled with tar in Vijaywada. The trapped youth was appealing for help in the video.
Kalia recognised the youth as his brother and informed the police about it. The Mancheswar police referred the case to Cyber Police in Bhubaneswar. After confirming that the trapped youth was Somnath, the police contacted their counterparts in Vijaywada seeking their help to rescue Somnath.
Meanwhile, Kalia has left for Vijaywada to get his younger brother back home.
