Youth Pushes Friend To Death From Bridge In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: Police have detained a youth for allegedly pushing his friend to death from a bridge in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.

According to sources, the victim, identified as Gupa Dharua of Gadiajor village under Patnagarh police limits, was sitting on the protective wall of the bridge near their village earlier in the day. His friend Sudam Dharua came to the spot and kicked him on the chest.

Gupa fell down from the bridge and started bleeding from head due to injuries. The locals rushed him to the sub-divisional hospital at Patnagarh. But doctors in the hospital declared him brought dead.

On being informed, a team from Patnagarh police station went to the village and took Sudam with them. They have detained him for questioning, the sources said.

Though the police have not ascertained the cause of death, the locals said the two friends had developed enmity over some issues recently. Sudam might have taken the step in a fit of rage, they suspected.
