Youth Shot At During Mini Marathon In Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: A youth was shot at during a mini-marathon organised by the Youth Hostel, Rourkela branch, at Biju Patnaik Square in Sector-2 on Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as Salil Sahu. He has been admitted to the city’s Ispat General Hospital (IGH) for treatment with bullet wounds on his back. His condition is stated to be stable.

“A mini-marathon was organised at the Sector-2 Durga Puja Field. Many participants had gathered at the spot. Many of us morning walkers were also strolling through the field when we heard loud gunshots,” an eyewitness said.

The motive and identity of the shooter are yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Rourkela Sector-3 police have seized a bullet shell and initiated an investigation.
