Bargarh: A youth was critically injured after a group of unidentified people fired at him in Bargarh Town of Odisha. The injured youth was identified as Jagannath Karna.
According to sources, Jagannath along with other youths was sitting at a poultry farm in the local bus stand area late on Thursday night. A group of masked people brandishing pistols and other weapons reached there and opened fire at Jagannath and one Laxman Sahu.
One bullet lodged in the leg of Jagannath. Later, the miscreants also attacked him with sharp edged weapons, rendering him critical.
However, they spared Laxman. Locals immediately rushed him to Puruna hospital and later shifted to a private hospital. His condition is stated to be critical, a doctor said.
It is suspected that past enmity might be the reason for the attack.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Police seized a bullet from the spot and started an investigation by tracking mobile numbers of some suspected people.
Meanwhile, Bargarh SP Prahlad Sahia Meena said that two of the miscreants were arrested and produced in the court. Further details are awaited.
