Kendrapara: A youth was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Kandira village under Pattamundai police limits in Kendrapara on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Kishore Sethi (35).
According to sources, three unidentified miscreants came to the village on Monday morning and threatened one Rabindra Sethi at gunpoint. The villagers, however,managed to nab one of the miscreants, following which four more persons came to the village after sometimes in two motorcycles to rescue him.
To create panic in the village, they opened fire and a bullet hit Kishore in the chest. He died on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and detained the accused, who was nabbed by the villagers.
Further investigation into the matter is on.
