Youth Stabs Minor Girl To Death In Odisha Village; One-Sided Love Suspected

Angul: In a broad daylight crime, a youth allegedly killed a minor girl by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon in her house a village in Odisha’s Angul district on Monday.

The incident took place at Kueio village under the juiirisidction of Sadar police station of the district when the girl and her mother were in their house. The assailant, who fled the scene immediately after committing the crime, is yet to be identified.

Sources said the youth barged into the house of the girl when she was with her mother. He attacked the girl with a sharp weapon after pushing her mother and ran away. The girl was grievously injured in the attack.

Their neighbours rescued the girl, whose throat was slit by the youth, and immediately rushed her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Angul. However, she succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation.

While the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, one-sided love was suspected to have led to the crime.

A hunt has been launched to nab the accused, police said. Further details are awaited.
