Youth Stealing Cash Handbag From Wedding Function In Bhubaneswar Identified

Bhubaneswar: Three days after the theft of cash and a gift bag from a wedding party at a hotel in Chandrasekharpur area in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday claimed that they have identified the thief.

“We have identified the youth from the CCTV footage and will arrest him very soon,” police told media here.

The police also informed that a gang of thieves operating in Bhubaneswar is targeting weddings and other social events. The gang finds it easy as they enter these places wearing sophisticated clothes and mingle with the guests.

The incident came to light when the father of the groom Rajen Mohanty lodged a complaint at Chandrasekharpur police station about the theft of cash and gifts worth Rs 7 lakh.

Mohanty said that after the theft of the cash bag, he went through the CCTV camera footage at the hotel and found a well-dressed youth decamping with the cash bag on his second attempt.
