Bhubaneswar: A youth sustained burn injuries at a ‘Ravana Podi’ (burning of Ravana effigy) event during Dussehra celebrations in Odisha’s Rourkela on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident took place at Melana Ground in Sector-13 this evening when Rakesh from Kalunga area was watching ‘Ravana Podi’ along with hundreds others and a spark from firecrackers used for burning the effigy hit him on the chest. He was reportedly standing close to the effigy.
He was rescued by police and ODRAF personnel and rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where his condition is stated to be stable.
This came a day after a man, his wife and minor son sustained serious injuries after a merry-go-round collapsed at a fair held near Telephone Bhavan puja mandap in the Steel City.
