Youth Survives Leopard Attack In Cuttack Farmhouse; Animal Killed



Cuttack: A youth was critically injured in a leopard attack at a farmhouse in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday, sparking panic among locals and prompting swift intervention by forest officials.

The attack occurred late on Friday night, leaving Subhranshu Bhol with serious injuries before the animal was eventually killed.

According to sources, Subhranshu was at his family farmhouse in Anantaprasad village under the Narsinghpur West forest range when he heard dogs barking outside. When he opened the door to check the commotion outside, a leo

pard entered his house and pounced on him. He tried to fight off the wild animal and it inflicted deep wounds on him.

To save himself, Subhranshu caught hold of a kitchen knife and stabbed the tiger repeatedly which weakened the animal. He then locked himself in a room till help arrived. He called his father who rushed immediately with an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

After receiving treatment at a nearby facility, he has been shifted to a hospital in Cuttack where his condition is critical but stable.

Forest officials and police personnel were alerted soon after the incident. In the ensuing operation, the leopard was killed. The carcass was later sent for examination as part of the official investigation.

Assistant Conservator of Forests at Athagarh, Manoj Patra said they have received information about the incident and an investigation is underway. Authorities are also probing how the leopard strayed into the farmhouse premises.
