Youth Threatens Relative With Toy Gun & Takes Away Car In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly taking away a car from one of his relatives by threatening him with a toy gun in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Rudra Prasad Mohanty of Basudev Nagar under Berhampur Sadar police station in Ganjam district came to the rented house of his brother-in-law Manoj Kumar Purohit at Sundarapada under Airfield police limits in the city on Thursday afternoon.

Rudra brought out a gun and threatened Manoj to give him Rs 50,000. When Manoj refused to pay the amount, Rudra threatened the security guard with the gun and took away the former’s car.

Manoj, who did not know that it was a toy gun, immediately informed the police. Airfield police tracked Rudra from his phone and traced him going towards Puri. A police team nabbed him after a chase at Pipili.

On searching the car, the police found that the gun used by Rudra was a toy. They have seized the toy gun and the car from his possession. A case in this regard has been registered and further investigation is on.
