Kanpur: A warrant officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been diagnosed with Zika virus in Kanpur.
It’s the first such case reported in Uttar Pradesh, a health official told PTI.
According to Kanpur chief medical officer (CMO) Nepal Singh, the IAF officer has been suffering from fever for several days and was admitted to the Air Force Hospital. His blood sample was sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune after he developed mysterious symptoms.
The state’s health and civic bodies are on high alert. The samples of 22 people who came in contact with the IAF officer have been sent to NIV for testing.
