Snake Hatchlings Inside House In Jagatsinghpur Village Create Panic
Paradip: Panic gripped people of Paika Sahi in Mangarajpur village under Kujanga block in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday after seven snake hatchlings were spotted in a house there.
According to sources, family members of Sindhu Rout spotted a baby snake in the house and began digging to trace the rest.
Of the seven, three were alive. The species of the snake is yet to be ascertained.
Likewise, three cobras were rescued from a puja room (Bhagabat Gadi) in Kalianti village of Mahanga block in Cuttack district on the same day. Suspecting more snakes, the villagers had sought help of snake helpline.
In another incident on Friday, as many as 11 cobra hatchlings were rescued from a shop at Radho village under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
Shop owner Krupasindhu Rout found the baby snakes in a hole inside his shop, following which, he informed the snake helpline.
Members of snake helpline rescued the baby cobras.
About a couple of days ago, more than 10 cobra hatchlings were found at Begunia village under Tirtol block in Jagatsinghpur district. Three of the five snakes were reportedly beaten to death by locals.
Besides, more than 20 cobra hatchlings were rescued from a house of Narilo village in Kendrapada district on Wednesday.
Snake helpline members had also rescued 12 Indian cobra hatchlings from the house of one Anadi Sahu of Suhagpur village in Pipili on Tuesday.
Hundreds of cobras were also rescued from two separate villages in the Bhadrak district few days back.
