Berhampur: One person died while three others were critically injured when a truck rammed into the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling at Rajapur Square on Aska road near Digapahandi in Odisha’s Ganjam district early on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accident took place when the auto, carrying five brick-kiln workers, was en route to Patapur from Digapahand. The passengers sustained serious injuries as the vehicle was completely damaged in the collision.
All four were initially admitted to Digapahandi Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where one among them succumbed. The condition of other three is stated to be critical.
While the identity of the deceased and the injured is yet to be ascertained, sources said that they were from Jaipur in Koraput district and worked in a brick kiln at Digapahandi.
Meanwhile, Digapahandi police have started an investigation into the accident.
