New Delhi: One person died and several others were injured as a London-Singapore flight was reportedly hit by severe turbulence on Tuesday.
The Singapore Airlines flight Boeing 777-300ER was en route Singapore from London’s Heathrow Airport when it was hit by severe turbulence reportedly due to bad weather conditions and had to make an emergency landing at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The aircraft was carrying a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew, BBC reported.
Though the Thai media reports said there were 30 injuries, Singapore Airlines did not specify how many were injured.
Singapore Airlines in a statement that it was working with Thai authorities to provide medical assistance to passengers and sending a team to Bangkok to provide additional assistance.
At the time of filing the story, reports of what exactly happened on board the flight were awaited.
The name of the deceased has also not been released.
