Bhubaneswar: Indian Army reportedly foiled a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) attack on the Line of Control (LoC) against Indian forces at Macchal in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
In the gun battle, at least one soldier died and four others—including a Major rank officer—were injured, an India Today report claimed.
A Pakistani terrorist was also killed in the exchange of fire, reports stated.
“Firing in Macchal Sect. There has been exchange of fire with unidentified personnel on a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector on the line of control. One Pakistani person has been killed while two of our soldiers have suffered injuries and have been evacuated. Operations are in progress,” the Chinar Corps of Indian Army wrote on X.
Border Action Teams (BATs)— which include commandos from the Pakistan Army and terrorists – have been known for infiltration along the LoC in the past.
This is the fourth encounter in Kupwara in the last month. Earlier on Wednesday, a terrorist was killed and non-commissioned officer (NCO) was injured during a gun battle between security forces and terrorists in the Kupwara district.
On July 14, three terrorists were reportedly killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Keran.
