Cuttack: The 10-day-long historic Bali Jatra, which is being held on Gadgaadia ghat near Mahanadi river in Odisha’s Cuttack city, will come to an end on Thursday.
According to sources, a huge footfall is expected this evening as visitors are expected to throng to grab the available items at a cheap price from around 1,400 stalls and more than 2,000 traders.
Notably, the traders usually reduce the price of items on the last day to attract more buyers before putting their shutters down. All necessary security arrangements have been arranged to ensure the last day of the historic event ends well.
This year’s Bali Jatra holds major significance as it was organised after a gap of two years due to COVID-19 restrictions.
It is pertinent to mention here that the fair was supposed to end on November 16. Considering the footfall and excitement among people, Cuttack Mayor Subhash Singh proposed extending the duration of the fair during the meeting of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
On November 15, Bali Jatra also found a place in Guinness World Records after 2100 students from 22 schools made over 22,000 paper boats in 35 minutes.
