New Delhi: Ten people lost their lives when a tempo traveller, with 23 passengers on board, fell into a deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Saturday.
Four with serious injuries have been referred to a higher centre while 9 other injured passengers are being treated in a nearby hospital where they were taken to, informed IG, Garhwal range.
The incident took place near on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway, with the bus plunging into the Alakananda river, reported PTI.

The passengers were travelling from Delhi/Ghaziabad to Chopta Tungnat.
State Disaster Response Force personnel and police are engaged in rescue operations.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed condolences and ordered the District Magistrate to investigate the incident.
“I pray to God to grant the souls of the departed a place at His feet and provide strength for the bereaved family to bear this immense pain. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Dhami wrote on his X handle.
