Bhadrak: At least ten persons were injured, three of them seriously, in a violent clash between two transgender groups near the railway overbridge at Charampa in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to information, one group was waiting near the railway overbridge late on Friday night when members of another group arrived at the spot. An argument reportedly broke out between the two sides, which later escalated into a violent clash.
Members of one group allegedly attacked the others with sticks and sharp-edged weapons, leaving around 10 persons injured. The injured were subsequently rescued and shifted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment. The condition of three injured was stated to be serious.
After receiving information about the incident, a team of Bhadrak Rural Police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the clash and identify those involved.
The injured persons sought stringent action against those responsible for the alleged attack. They also urged the authorities to look into such conflicts seriously and address illegal activities in the area to prevent further violence.
Further investigation into the incident is in progress.
