Berhampur: At least ten children sustained critical injuries after getting electrocuted during an event near a temple at a village in Digapahandi area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Phasiguda village under the jurisdiction of Digapahandi police station when the children came in contact with live electric wire while attending an event organised for inauguration of a temple.
The injured children were immediately rushed to Digapahandi hospital and four of them were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur as their condition worsened.
Locals said that a cultural programme was underway on a stage when the children came in contact with live wire. The children are aged between seven and 12 years.
After getting information about the incident, a team of police personnel visited the site and initiated an investigation.
