10 Migrant Labourers Rescued In Balangir
Balangir: Khaprakhol police rescued 10 migrant labourers, including three children, in Balangir district while they were reportedly trafficked to Hyderabad on Sunday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, Khaprakhol police reached Bada Gurujimunda village near Lathore and rescued the labourers from a vehicle. The driver, however, managed to flee. Those rescued were later sent back to their villages in Bargarh district.
Notably, the labourers were being trafficked to Hyderabad to work in a brick kiln.
In the first week of June, 19 labourers were rescued by a joint team of the Labour Department and police in Nabarangpur district
Acting on specific information, officials of the Labour Department with the help of local police intercepted a private bus at Nabarangpur town and rescued six minor girls, four minor boys, six women and three children from the vehicle.
The victims hailing from Raighar area of the district were being trafficked by a middleman.
The middleman, identified as Krushna of Chilika in Puri district, was taking them to Visakhapatnam to work at a construction site. He, however, managed to escape during the raid.
On May 13, 14 labourers were rescued by police from Bheunria village under Padampur tehsil in Bargarh district. The rescued labourers were reportedly being trafficked to Barpalli from Paikmal in the district for work.
