10 Tourists Stranded Mid-River After Water Released From Gohira Dam In Odisha’s Deogarh

Deogarh: At least 10 persons were stranded in the middle of a river after excess water was released from Gohira Dam under Reamal block in Odisha’s Deogarh on Friday.

According to sources, all of them were residents of Jamunali village in Angul. They were sitting on a rock near Jamunali village and clicking selfies when water came gushing into the river when the dam gates were opened. They were holding a feast at this well-known picnic spot.

While four swam to safety, a 10-member team of firefighters from Reamal, led by senior officer Prafulla Biswal, rescued six others, including children, using life jackets, ropes, and boats.

The dam authorities claimed that a siren was sounded before the opening of the dam gates.
