10-Year-Old Carries Pistol In Bag To School In Delhi
New Delhi: A pistol was recovered from the school bag of a 10-year old boy by the school administration in Delhi’s Najafgarh area. The school authorities later reported in to Delhi Police.
The pistol is now in the process of being decommissioned, reported the Hindustan Times. Cops have also initiated a probe into the matter. The boy had reportedly gone to school with the pistol in his bag on Saturday. The pistol is licensed in the name of his father, who died a few months ago.
But, this isn’t a standalone incident. Such cases have happened in the past too. The access to guns to kids has also led to serious consequences. Here’s a look back:
1) In May, another 10-year-old had accidentally shot his 16-year-old sister dead, after playing with a hand-made pistol he found in his house in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.
2) Again in the same month, a minor in 12th grade had locked himself in his room and threatened to kill himself with a pistol in Lucknow. He was rescued after a 12 hour operation by the police.
3) In July, a five-year-old in Bihar carried a gun to school and shot a 10-year-old.
4) In Chattisgarh, a young boy was caught bringing gun to school. His father and uncle were then arrested for illegal procurement of firearms.
